Baby Shower Extravaganza Review: Cozy Wedge

Crib bumpers are adorable and are great for decorating nurseries but the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, now recommend against using soft padded bumpers in cribs. Studies suggest that traditional padded bumpers pose risks of strangulation and suffocation and might increase the risk of SIDS in babies that are susceptible.

CozyWedge bumpers fit snugly around the crib, won't slip down and are easy to remove for sheet changing.
They have a low profile that gives a climbing baby a much smaller foothold to use for climbing out of the crib.  CozyWedge's low profile also improves visibility into the crib, allowing frequent, easy checks on baby. The hard surface of the foam will not compress when baby rolls against it, so it does not form a pocket around the baby's mouth and nose.

The Cozy Wedge inserts are made of polyethylene foam, which has no odor, no VOC's and no CFC's and the slipcovers are 100% organic cotton.  They are very easy to put together, you just slip the wedges into the slipcover, put them in the crib, attach the two and tie into place.  It should take you less than 5 minutes from start to finish.  It took me a bit longer because Wiggle kept running away with the wedges, then she grabbed the filled slip cover and ran away with that causing the wedges to come out (should have done it after she went to bed!)

Over Thirty Mommy's Thoughts
I know it says not to have bumpers but I fell into the, look how cute they are trap.  I tried to take them out a couple times but Wiggle would squirm around so much when she was sleeping that he leg or arm would come out and she would get stuck.  Once I saw Wiggle Bean try to use the bumpers in her crib to climb on I had to take them out for good.  She was not getting arms or legs stuck anymore but her "baby" would get pushed out and then she would wake up screaming.  (she is really attached to that thing, I have no idea what I would do if we lost him or he fell apart).  With the Cozy Wedge, we do not have this problem.  Baby stays in bed and Wiggle Bean can not use them to climb on.  I like that the slipcover is organic cotton and that the foam is harder making, it safer.  The Royal Blue Cozy Wedge matched our nursery room decor perfectly.

Where to Buy
The Cozy Wedge is available in 8 stylish colors at select baby boutiques around the US and one in Ontario Canada as well as various E-Retailers.  You can also order directly from the Cozy Wedge website.
