This year my husband was going to be gone for a business trip over Father's Day so I wanted to do something a little special for him.  When I saw the Babr-A-Mel book I Love Daddy Because, I knew if would be perfect, I could fill it full of cute photos of the two of them together and sneak it into his suitcase for a cute Father's Day surprise.

About Barb-A-Mel Books
Born out of a desire to show her daughter how much her dad loved her even when he couldn't be there in person, Barb developed her first book I Love Daddy Because.  When she was unsuccessful in getting it published with large publishers, she formed her own publishing company Barbamel Books and published her first books "I Love Daddy Because…" and "I Love Mommy Because..."

In 2002, Barb-A-Mel Books experienced a huge set back when the publishing company they were using for distribution went under (taking all her profits with them), Barb took some time off to raise her children.

Over the next 5-6 years she continued to receive request after request for her two original books as well as the two follow up books "I Love Grandma Because…" and "I Love Grandpa Because...".  So Barb began her business again and took over the distribution herself (taking deliver of 20,000 books at her home!) and distributing to children's stores until a large children's company picked up her books and took over distribution.

As she heads into her eleventh year, she is working on "I Love My Brother Because..." and "I Love My Sister Because...".

Over Thirty Mommy's Thoughts
While I didn't get to see my husband open his gift, he did call and say that is was really special and that he really appreciated it.  This trip is the longest that he has been away from our daughter and it was made even longer by it being over Father's day.  In the 13 years that we have been married, I have only known him to have teared up once and that was when our daughter was delivered while she was perfectly healthy, things went down hill for me for a few hours. 

I knew that this gift was a huge hit the minute he told me that it made him tear up a little (no actual tears but that is OK).
