Baby Shower Eztravaganza Giveaway #16: CloudB Twilight Sea Turtle CLOSED

CSN has over 200 shops to meet all of your online shopping needs.

Toys and Games Online is part of the CSN family of online shops.  If you are looking for toys, games, bikes and so much more, this is the website for yo.  The store is super easy to navigate, you can search by gender, age, brand, and type of toy.

A little while ago, I wrote about possibley changing the theme of Wiggles nursery after searching the kids bedding section of All Childrens Furniture (another CSN shop!) and finding the Pam Grace Creations Ladybug Lucy Bedding Set.

Wiggle LOVES anything Ladybug.  While browsing around Toys and Games Online, I found the CloudB Twilight Ladybug and knew Wiggle had to have it.

It is adorable and projects constellations on her walls and ceiling in three different colors. It runs on batteries  and has a 45 minute sleep timer so it will not go through batteries and I do not have to sneak into her room later to turn it off.  Since it runs on batteries, there are no cords for her to get tangled up with and she can (and does) drag it all over the house making it shine on anything she can.

WIN IT!!!
CSN has Generously offered one Over Thirty Mommy a CloudB Twilight Sea Turtle (pictured to the left) of their own.

Baby Shower Extravaganza Giveaway #15: Happy Baby: The Organic Guide to Baby's First 24 Months

HAPPYBABY : The Organic Guide to Baby’s First 24 Months, written by Dr. Sears and HAPPYBABY, focuses on the most crucial and confusing time for growing families: the beginning. This book is the one-stop source for new moms and dads who are committed to having the healthiest, happiest family possible

HappyBaby proves that green parenting is not only the very best approach when it comes to baby’s health and happiness, it’s remarkably easy to do—good for parents, good for the environment, and good for your  child.

A few of the chapters I am most interested in reading are:
  • Easy, healthy and delicious recipes for babies and toddlers
  • Dealing with post pregnancy stress
  • How to teach caregivers to be health-conscious in your absence
  • How to create an environmentally sound and baby-friendly household

The book also gives answers to questions such as: What should I eat when nursing my baby to ensure the most nutritional feedings?, When do I introduce my child to solid foods, and how can I do it in a safe and fun way?, and How can I green (remove toxins from) the new room?

Even better, the back of the book includes over $100 in coupons for healthy products for your baby.

Baby Shower Extravaganza Giveaway #13: Ella's Kitchen Organic Foods

Ella's kitchen came about when Ella’s dad decided that Ella and all kids in her generation should eat better food and also to discover that healthy food can be fun, tasty and cool.  When it comes to foods, Ella's parents think it's important to always approach things from a child's point of view.   For this reason they have used simple, natural ingredients and created foods, and packaging, that connect with kid.

Stage 1 baby food for children 4 months and up. They are made from 100% organic fruits and veggies with nothing else added -no fillers, no added salt or sugar, and unlike most baby foods, not even added water which would dilute its food value.  Stage 1 foods come in six great fruit and veggie blends.  I was not sure how Wiggle would do with them, she does not really feed herself but the pouches are designed so that you can eat directly from them or you can squeeze it on to a spoon (no dirty dish!!).  Since she is 13 months, I let her have the pouch and she went to town.  Wiggle never has any left over after she gets a hold of a pouch but the re-screwable cap allows for safe use for up to 48 hours if refrigerated or a partially used, freshly opened pouch can be frozen in the freezer and used for up to 3 months.

YUM, should sum these up!  The Ella's Kitchen smoothie fruits are super delicious.  They're made from 100% crushed organic fruit, totally undiluted with water, juices or concentrates and come in two great flavors.  The Red One is made with organic bananas, organic strawberries, organic apples, organic raspberries and organic lemon juice.  The Yellow One is made with organic bananas, organic apples, organic mangoes, organic apricots and organic lemon juice.  Ella's Kitchen Smoothie fruits are perfect for the diaper bag, a lunch box or break time snack. Smoothie Fruits are also fabulous when used in all sorts of cooking, there are even recipes on the Ella's Kitchen website.

I will admit it, I sampled the smoothie fruits before giving them to Wiggle.  I was just being a good mom, making sure they were good for her!  Ok, fine, you caught me! They sounded so tasty I could not help myself.

Where to Buy
Ella’s Kitchen is available to buy in lots of places –  check out our list of little stores and online places to buy

Baby Shower Extravaganza Giveaway #14: Your Baby Can Read CLOSED

"Your Baby Can Read!TM System Brings Worldwide
Change to Childhood Literacy Field"

The first time I saw the Your Baby Can Read commercial was when I was home on maternity leave.  I was bound and determined to get it, I was sure it would work and I would have the smartest baby around.  My husband of course made fun of me but my dad's wife thought it was great also and promised to get it for Wiggle Bean for Christmas (so I didn't buy it myself).

Well Christmas came and they changed their mind and got Wiggle a Disney Princess 4-wheeler instead.  While she loves her power bike, I was a little bummed that she did not get the Your Baby Can Read program.

When I was offered the chance to review the YBCR starter set, I jumped on it.  The starter set would be perfect for my 14 month old and when it works (and she shows how much of a genius she is) hubby will have no choice but to get us the deluxe set!

About Your Baby Can Read
Developed by Dr. Robert Titzer, a recognized expert in infant learning, the YBCR program had been used by thousands of parents to expose their children to reading skills early in life.  Research shows that introducing basic reading during the first years of life makes the process of learning to read faster, easier, more exciting, and interesting for the child.  According to the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, "earlier experiences determine whether a child's developing brain architecture provides a strong or weak foundation for all future learning, behavior, and health".

More brain connections for language and higher cognitive functions are formed during infancy than any other time in a person's life.  Numerous studies have proven that early readers have more confidence, higher self-esteem and generally perform better in school and later in life.

Your Baby Can Read was recently named one of the ten best Educational toys of 2009 by Dr Toy.  The program also received three iParenting Media Awards for their My First Words books, Lift-A-Flap Word and Picture Books, and the Deluxe Kit.

I have only had the starter kit for two weeks so I can not say that I have seen any noticeable reading skills with Wiggle yet but I am going to keep at it and see how it goes.  I am excited by reviews that I have read where people say how it worked for them.

Where to Buy

The Your Baby Can Read Deluxe set is available direct from the Your Baby Can Read website.

Baby Shower Extravaganza Review: Shower Hug

The Shower Hug was created by Andria Sgro in 2006.  She came up with the idea for the Shower hug, a bandeau wrap worn around the bust line to support and protect sore breasts associated with pregnancy and breastfeeding while showering (fancy that!).

The Shower Hug is specially designed for expectant and new moms to wear when they shower.  It contours to each mother's shape and provides a gentle, non-restrictive bust line support while soothing sensitive nipples and breasts caused by pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The Shower Hug is made, in the USA, of the softest, dye free double-sided knit terry velour.  It has a gentle stretch built-in, to provide you with bust line support needed during pregnancy and after baby arrives.  It can also be used by moms that are recovering for C-section deliveries.  Simply wrap the Shower Hug around your hips and lower abdomen.

I wish I had one of these after I had Wiggle Bean! For the first 2-3 weeks I wore my bikini top in the shower because I could not stand to have the water spray directly on me.  I endured jokes and teasing from my hubby (who thought it was funny that I was taking a shower in my swimsuit) but I had to do it.  I would have given anything to have had a Shower Hug.  I am beyond the point where I could uses this for nursing pain relief but it has many other uses outside of the shower.

The Shower Hug is available in 3 sizes (I think the X/S is discontinued or at least very limited).  To get the proper fit, locate your pre-pregnancy bra size in the left hand column on the chart below. The column to the right shows the proper size Shower Hug™ to purchase. If your bra size does not fall into one of the categories shown on our sizing chart, then go by the size sports bra you wore before you were pregnant.

In March 2009, Belmama and Cherub released coordinating burp cloths and wash cloths that are made of the same soft terry velour.

Where to buy
The Shower Hug can be ordered online at www.showerhug.com.  You can also find the Shower Hug at many retailers across the US as well as in a few other countries.

*Disclaimer: I was not paid in any form of cash for this posting.   I received a Shower Hug with matching burp and wash cloth  for my review purposes. This is solely the opinion of Over Thirty Mommy. Other people may have different experiences with the product.**

Baby Shower Extravaganza Giveaway #12: Dole Fruit Bowls CLOSED

Are you asking yourself what Dole Fruit Bowls have to do with babies?  That is an excellent question!  Here is my answer. They have nothing to do with babies but make a great easy snack for mothers (older kids and even dads).

Experts say that you should put together a Nursing station for breastfeeding.  It should consists of a comfortable chair with table, pillows, books and magazines, water, snacks, and music or the TV remote.  One of the things that I found especially helpful was the snacks.  Nursing is a great way to burn calories and I found that during nursing, I would suddenly feel hungry.  I always kept a few small (and most of the time healthy) snacks around my station for the middle of the night feedings.  It was a the perfect way to keep my energy up.

Dole Fruit Bowls come in 18 different delicious varieties I tried the Dole Apples and Cream Parfait and it was scrumptious!  Dole Fruit Bowls are a nutritious snack that are perfect for on-the-go snacking.   Their Fruit Bowls were awarded the ChefsBest award by the American Culinary ChefsBest.

Nutrition facts
  • DOLE Fruit Bowls are 80 calories or fewer (the parfaits are a little more)
  • DOLE Fruit Bowls are rich in Vitamin C
  • DOLE Fruit Bowls are naturally fat-free
  • DOLE Fruit Bowls are low in sodium

Baby Shower Extravaganza #10 : Maclaren Beginning

beginning..........
In collaboration with an internationally respected
aromatherapy expert, Maclaren created an organic-based
and holistic personal care range, which is designed to
promote the well being of mum and baby through purity,
nurturing and connection from the beginning.

Maclaren beginning is a holistic line of products designed to pamper mother and baby.  They have been carefully created to meet the emotional and physical needs of mothers and babies.

The for Mother line has great product like Nurturing Bath Milk, Alleviating Leg Lotion, Supporting Belly Balm along with many others.  While the for Baby line includes Calming Bath Milk, Protecting Nappy Balm, Cocooning Massage Oil and more.

I tried the  Hand Sanitizing Gel with organic lavender from the for Mother line. The antiseptic properties of Alcohol eliminate up to 99.99% of germs, is proven safe for toddlers and is bacterial against a wide range of pathogens.  beginning Natural Hand Sanitizer also nourishes the skin with vitamin-rich moisturizing Organic Aloe Vera and soothes with Organic Lavender.  I found the light lavender scent to be refreshing  and it is just the right size to toss in your purse, diaper bag or even jacket pocket.  I keep one in the car also, it is perfect for when you are on the go, away from a sink, and you need to sanitize before you feed your baby or after you change a diaper.

I also got to experience the Comforting Room Mist for baby from the for Baby line of beginning products.  The comforting room mist is made with pure organic lavender, Mandarin and Roman Chamomile essential oils.  Comforting room mist for babies can be used daily to create a comforting memory. From the earliest age aroma is anchored in memory, triggering an emotional response to the sense of smell.  Use the room mist at home when baby is resting and safe. When away from home, use to comfort baby, creating a sense of familiarity and a connection to the safety of home.  I just spritz it 2 or 3 times in Wiggle's room before bedtime and she drifts off to the light scent.  My husband is sensitive to overly strong scents and has not been bothered by the delicate lavender and chamomile scent of the room mist.  I can not say 100% that is was due to the room mist but on weekends Bean almost always gets up around 5:30 and this morning, after using the mist last night, she slept an extra hour (yeah me!!)

Where to Buy
Maclaren beginning products are available directly from the Maclaren website.

Baby Shower Extravaganza Review: Cozy Wedge

Crib bumpers are adorable and are great for decorating nurseries but the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, now recommend against using soft padded bumpers in cribs. Studies suggest that traditional padded bumpers pose risks of strangulation and suffocation and might increase the risk of SIDS in babies that are susceptible.

CozyWedge bumpers fit snugly around the crib, won't slip down and are easy to remove for sheet changing.
They have a low profile that gives a climbing baby a much smaller foothold to use for climbing out of the crib.  CozyWedge's low profile also improves visibility into the crib, allowing frequent, easy checks on baby. The hard surface of the foam will not compress when baby rolls against it, so it does not form a pocket around the baby's mouth and nose.

The Cozy Wedge inserts are made of polyethylene foam, which has no odor, no VOC's and no CFC's and the slipcovers are 100% organic cotton.  They are very easy to put together, you just slip the wedges into the slipcover, put them in the crib, attach the two and tie into place.  It should take you less than 5 minutes from start to finish.  It took me a bit longer because Wiggle kept running away with the wedges, then she grabbed the filled slip cover and ran away with that causing the wedges to come out (should have done it after she went to bed!)

Over Thirty Mommy's Thoughts
I know it says not to have bumpers but I fell into the, look how cute they are trap.  I tried to take them out a couple times but Wiggle would squirm around so much when she was sleeping that he leg or arm would come out and she would get stuck.  Once I saw Wiggle Bean try to use the bumpers in her crib to climb on I had to take them out for good.  She was not getting arms or legs stuck anymore but her "baby" would get pushed out and then she would wake up screaming.  (she is really attached to that thing, I have no idea what I would do if we lost him or he fell apart).  With the Cozy Wedge, we do not have this problem.  Baby stays in bed and Wiggle Bean can not use them to climb on.  I like that the slipcover is organic cotton and that the foam is harder making, it safer.  The Royal Blue Cozy Wedge matched our nursery room decor perfectly.

Where to Buy
The Cozy Wedge is available in 8 stylish colors at select baby boutiques around the US and one in Ontario Canada as well as various E-Retailers.  You can also order directly from the Cozy Wedge website.

Baby Shower Extravaganza Giveaway #9: Medela Tender Care Lanolin and Hydrogel pads CLOSED

"Breastfeeding…the Very Heart of Our Business"

About Medela
Medela’s primary focus is breastfeeding…by helping moms to successfully breastfeed their babies and to do so for as long as they choose. Medela’s Breastfeeding Division exists to enhance mother and baby health through the life-giving benefits of breastmilk.

Founded in 1961 in Zug, Switzerland by Olle Larsson, Medela continues to grow under the ownership of the Larsson family today. Medela serves its customers through 13 subsidiaries distributing to over 90 countries worldwide. Medela’s U.S. subsidiary, Medela, Inc., has been serving the American market for over 25 years.

Medela is the first manufacturer in the United States to develop a workplace program to meet the needs of working mothers. Through the Corporate Lactation Program, businesses support breastfeeding employees and their families by providing breastfeeding counseling and breastpumps in an accessible, private, pleasant location. This program has been instrumental in making American businesses more "nursing-mother-friendly" with programs in major corporate firms.

I work in Oregon and we have great laws for breastfeeding mothers.  I am sure I have Medela to thank in part for these benefits.

I do not know about you but I developed a great relationship with my lanolin after I had my baby.  During the first weeks of breastfeeding mothers may experience nipple tenderness and cracking.  Medela's Tender Care lanolin offers soothing relief for sore nipples.  Medela's Tender Care Lanolin is 100% safe for mom and baby and does not need to be removed prior to nursing. It contains all natural ingredients and is preferred by moms over other formulas.  Medela's Tender Care Lanolin is specially formulated to glide on smoothly and gently.
Tender Care Hydrogel pads provide instant relief for sore nipples!  They cool on contact  and are contoured for a perfect fit.  Tender care Hydrogel pads are even reusable.   The are easy to use, simple run under cool water for 1-2 seconds, shake off and set aside for 2 minutes.  After that you can place the gel side of the pad directly on your nipple.

I had my first experience with gel pads while I was still in the hospital.  Like most (if not all) new mom's nursing was a shock to my nipples and they quickly became sore and tender.  The gel pads helped cool them and relieved the pain quickly.

Where to Buy
You can find these and other Medela products at Target, Babies R Us, Amazon and many other retailers.

WIN IT!!!
One Over Thirty Mommy reader will win the Tender Care™ Lanolin - 2 oz Tube and the Hydrogel Pads.

Baby Shower Extravaganza Giveaway #8: Tommee Tippee CLOSED

Not too long ago I had my first experience with Tommee Tippee products.  I tried out the Explora Sippy cup with Wiggle while my sister tried the Closer to Nature bottle with her son.

The Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottle is specially designed to look and feel more natural for babies, making it easier to transition back and forth from bottle to nursing with less confusion for the child.  The nipple mimics natural feel, flex and movement of breastfeeding making it easier to latch on.  It also features an anti-colic anti-gas vent.

My sister assists me with reviews that are specific to infants.  Her newest little boy gets air bubbles really easily and has issues with spitting up after every feeding.  For feeding where she uses the Closer To Nature Bottle, she has noticed a reduction in the amount and frequency of spit up.  She also really likes that it is a simple design with no extra parts to wash and keep track of.

It is a little wider that a standard bottle so it takes up more cupboard space but she feels that the benefit of reduced gas and air bubbles more than makes up for its larger size.

Wiggle Bean has a paid of the Tommee Tippee Explora sippy cups and likes to take them everywhere.  We have one that is for the car and on for inside.  She loves that she can open and close the lid (I like that the lid is attached so she will not lose it!).  Most sippy cups say they are spill proof but they still drip if left upside down or dropped.  This has not been the case with the Explora Sippy Cup.  She likes to put them next to her in the carseat and highchair (of course upside down!) and I have not had a problem with it leaking (except the time I forgot to tighten the lid!)

Where to Buy
Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature and Explora infant and toddler feeding products are available exclusively at Babies“R”Us stores in the United States, and at online at Babiesrus.com/tommeetippee.
