Review: Baby Mum-Mums Organic Rice Rusks

Hot Kid's Organic Baby Mum-Mums are a favorite snack of our little Wiggle Bean.  They make a great snack on the go, before bed or any time.

Baby Mum-Mums are perfect for teething and are specially designed to dissolve easily. Organic Baby Mum-Mum's are crispy rice rusks that are lightly sweetened (less than 1g per serving).  Baby Mum-Mum's contain no artificial colors or flavors; no preservatives; gluten-free; wheat, egg and peanut free.  Baby Mum-Mum's come in original, vegetable and Organic Original varieties.   You can also get Toddler Mum-Mum's in organic original and organic strawberry. They are packaged in easy to grab packets containing two rusks.

Hot Kid's Organic Mum-Mum is made from Japonica Rice, Sugar, Skim Milk Powder, Salt and are USDA certified organic.  They are a great alternative for standard teething biscuits, especially for those babies that have allergies to wheat or gluten.

Wiggle Bean can not get enough of them, she runs around cheering Mum-mum when she sees the package.  I feel good about giving them to her since they are not packed full of sugar.

Baby Mum-Mu also has a blog.  The Baby Mum-Mum blog discusses everything to do with babies and parenting with a focus on child health and child development.  They recently posted an interesting article on teething, I found it interesting because Bean started cutting her incisors this weekend (I though I had a few more months)

Where to Buy:
Baby Mum-Mum can be found at many large retailers such as Fredmeyer, Wal-Mart, Babies"R"Us, and Amazon.com.

**Disclaimer: I was not paid in any form of cash for this posting.  I received case of Organic Baby Mum-Mums for the purpose of my reviewThis is solely the opinion of Over Thirty Mommy. Other people may have different experiences with the product.**

Baby Shower Extravaganza Giveaway #6 First Juice CLOSED

As a new mother, I was bound and determined to only give my daughter the best.  I was going to feed her organic foods where ever possible (no matter the cost) and she was not even going to know what Juice was.

Whenever I took her anywhere they would offer her juice and then look at me like I was from another planet when I told them she did not drink juice.

Everyone kept telling me that all kids her age drink juice but I felt that it had too much sugar in it and most of the "juice" on the market is not even 100% juice.  I thought about watering it down but from my research that also dilutes the nutritional value and it is still full of high fructose corn syrup and other chemicals.

Did you know that beverages labeled 100% Fruit Juice contain 90% of the sugar and calories of sugar-sweetened carbonated soft-drinks?  Think about what a soda does to you, now imaging concentrating that into a child 1/5th your size!

Did you know that a 12oz can of soda has 39 grams of sugar and a 11.5oz can of 100% apple juice has 36 grams of sugar? seem a little excessive to you?  It does to me.

In an effort to conform to society's norm of "all kids drink juice" I sought out a better alternative.  That is how I found First juice!  Not only is it organic (which is very important to us) but it has about 50% of the sugar as regular juice.  First Juice also contains 60% of the daily value for vitamin C, 25% for vitamin A and 10% of calcium and vitamin D.  It contains NO added sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no preservatives and no high fructose corn syrup.  It is also USDA certified organic and kosher.

First juice is an organic fruit and veggie juice blended with purified water (43%-49% juice).  By selecting and blending fruits and vegetables with lower natural sugars, First Juice has created the lowest per-ounce sugar content on the market.

Why purple carrots? Did you know that the first carrots were not orange?  They were purple, white, red and yellow.  Purple carrots are higher in antioxidants and are colorful and fun for kids.

Review and Giveaway: Peter Rabbit Organic Fruit Pouches CLOSED

Peter Rabbit
Organics

Peter Rabbit Organics is a small, privately owned company.  They started in 2004 based in London, England.  Ben, Katharine, Alex, Cheryl and Annabel are the life blood of Peter Rabbit Organics.

Peter Rabbit organic fruit pouches made their US debut in March 2009.   Peter Rabbit only uses organic ingredients certified by the USDA, and whenever possible local suppliers in Oregon (yeah for me!!).
The fruit pouches come in three delicious fruit combinations: Apple and Grape, Strawberry and Banana, and Mango, Banana and Orange. No straws or spoons are required to eat Peter Rabbit Organic Fruit Pouches.  They work similar to squeezable drink pouches, the child can just suck the fruit right out of the pouch.  Peter Rabbit organic fruit pouches are great for on the go, simply drop them into a diaper bag, purse or lunch box and you are good to go.  They are the perfect on-the-go snack for busy moms, dads and caregivers.  They are made using fresh, organic fruit with no added sugar, salt or artificial ingredients (they do not even contain water). Each pouch contains a full serving of fruit. The package design has a choke-free cap,  making them safe for little ones and the packaging is BPA-free.  Unopened pouches don't need to be refrigerated, once opened they should be consumed within 48 hours to maintain freshness (and because they do not contain any preservatives)

The 3.5 oz.organic fruit pouches will be available at select Whole Foods Markets and independent natural food stores in a number of regions across the country.  As of January 2010, Peter Rabbit Organic Fruit Pouches are being sold at some Starbucks locations.  All three flavors will also be available on Amazon.com.

Over Thirty Mommy's Thoughts
I am sure that I should have started letting Wiggle Bean feed herself sooner but I still like to feel needed (and she is really messy!).  She can eat solid foods on her own (provided they are not too messy) but I usually do not let or have her feed herself pureed foods.  When I saw the Peter Rabbit Fruit pouches I was not sure how they would go over.  Would she get the hang of a squeeze pouch or would it end up all over my carpet.  So being the responsible parent, I tossed one into the diaper bag when we went to the tax accountants office.  The appointment was running into her normal lunch time so I opened the Strawberry and Banana pouch (thought I would let her try the red one on their carpet) and handed it to her.  I held it for her for a second then she took it from me and wanted to do it herself.  It was amazing, she had that pouch sucked down in no time at all.   She LOVED them.  I took a tiny taste (that was all she left) and it was delicious.

WIN IT!!!
Thanks to Peter Rabbit Organics,  one Over Thirty Mommy reader will win a case (10 pouches) of mixed flavor fruit pouches.
