5 Christmas craft projects to do with your kids

Making Christmas crafts with your kids is a great way to get the family together and create an atmosphere of holiday spirit in the home. Creating holiday crafts together will generate endearing childhood memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. You’ll find your little artist will love creating Christmas crafts and proudly display their achievements to be admired. Many of the crafts you create with your child can be keepsakes and used year after year. Here’s a list of five easy craft projects you can do with your kids.

Coffee Filter Angels

Coffee filter angels are simple to make, and you can add some glitter for a special glow. Place a cotton ball in the centre of a coffee filter and gather to create the angel’s head. Place another coffee filter into the open end and tuck into the head area. Tie ribbon around the neck in a tight bow. Take another coffee filter and accordion fold and fan out the wings. Fold the excess chenille into a loop for hanging. Wrap the gold chenille around a bottle cap to form the halo. Hot glue the halo behind the angel’s head. Hot glue the wings behind the angel.

Materials

- 3 basket style coffee filters
- 2 cotton balls
- silver or gold ribbon
- 1 white chenille stem
- 1 gold chenille stem
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun

Snowman Sponge Paint Gift Wrap

Using brown paper bags from the grocery store, cut the bags open and lay flat. Dip snowman shaped sponge into aluminium pie tray with white paint and press to create the image. After the paint is dry, you can then wrap gifts in the decorated paper.

Materials

-1 snowman sponge
-1 aluminium pie pan
-white paint
-brown grocery bag

Christmas Candy Tree

The simplicity of this craft is so easy for the little ones. Wind the chenille stem around your finger. Push one end of the step into the chocolate. Cut out a star from construction paper and glue it to the top of the tree.

Materials

-Green chenille stem
-Reese’s peanut butter cups
-Yellow construction paper, optional
-Scissors
-Glue


Angel Place Cards

Kids can help decorate the Christmas holiday table with this fun and simple angel place card craft. Fan fold a paper napkin. Turn the paper cup upside down. Place the napkin on top of the paper cup. Push through the layers of napkin and cup with the stick end of the lollipop. Make a halo from the chenille stem and attach it around the angel’s head. The name can be printed on the cup with a magic marker.

-Paper Cups
-Napkins
-Lollipops
-Chenille stems
-Magic marker

Printable Elf Napkin Rings

This is a fun and easy project, which can even be done before Christmas dinner. Print a pattern for an elf’s face from the computer. Have the kids colour in the face with pencils. Cut a 2-inch strip of construction paper. Wrap the strip around a napkin and glue it. Then glue the elf face on top.

-Colour pencils
-Glue stick
-Green construction paper
-Pattern for elf
